Meet Your Instructor:
Angela Owen

At the heart of the VISION Transylvania experience is Angela Owen, our course instructor and executive director. With a rare blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and heartfelt commitment to community, Angela plays an essential role in shaping the program’s transformative impact.
Angela’s professional journey began with a degree in electrical engineering from NC State University, followed by 14 years at Procter & Gamble. There, she held leadership roles in manufacturing operations, business strategy, and human resources—honing her problem-solving, communication, and organizational development skills along the way.
But it was her passion for empowering people that ultimately led her home to Balsam Grove and into the field of leadership development. She launched TBL Leadership Partners, a global training and consulting firm focused on equipping individuals, teams, and organizations with the tools to grow, lead, and thrive. Angela has coached and developed leaders around the world—but she’s most inspired when doing so right here in her own community.
In Angela's words:
"While I enjoy coaching leaders around the world, it is an honor and privilege to focus on leadership development right here at home through VISION Transylvania. VISION leverages community resources to create an active learning lab where participants build leadership skills vital for both individual and community success. I cannot imagine a more wonderful place to serve as the backdrop for an experiential learning lab of this nature than Transylvania County."
As facilitator of the VISION program, Angela brings unmatched energy, clarity, and purpose to every session. She is a mentor, motivator, and guide—helping participants connect with each other, see the bigger picture, and step into their leadership potential. Whether students are engaging with government leaders, exploring environmental challenges, or reflecting on their own leadership journeys, Angela ensures that each program day is thoughtful, impactful, and deeply relevant.
Under her leadership, VISION isn’t just a course—it’s a launchpad for meaningful, long-term community engagement.
