VISION Youth Leadership Awards

Recognizing the Next Generation of Local Leaders

Each year, VISION Transylvania honors three exceptional high school seniors with $1,000 Youth Leadership Awards—celebrating young people who lead with integrity, serve others, and care deeply about their community. Presented to one graduating senior from each of Transylvania County’s three public high schools—Brevard, Rosman, and Davidson River—these awards reflect VISION’s belief that leadership begins early.

Named in memory of Joe F. Tuttle, former VISION Director, the awards carry forward his legacy by investing in students who are already helping shape the future of our community.

Award Criteria

Nominees for the VISION Youth Leadership Award are recommended by school faculty and staff based on the following qualities:

  • Demonstrated leadership in school or community settings

  • A spirit of service and civic engagement

  • Personal integrity and resilience

  • Potential to grow as a leader and make a lasting impact

Each award winner receives a check for $1,000 to support their continued education or training.

Why It Matters

Great leadership begins early—and VISION is committed to nurturing it. These awards are one of the ways we invest in the future of Transylvania County by recognizing and supporting the young people who will one day be community leaders. Our hope is that these students feel seen, celebrated, and encouraged to continue growing as thoughtful, involved, committed citizens.
